about her motivations for beating the disease. "I have to do everything and anything I possibly can to give myself the best chance to beat this because I have a little girl here and she needs me," she said.
Nermina and her footballer husband Erik Pieters, 35, who plays for West Bromwich Albion, are parents to two-year-old Alaya-Rose, and Nermina is determined to see her "grow up".
The diagnosis hit Nermina and Erik especially hard as they had also just discovered Nermina was in the very early stages of pregnancy, but the couple were told that any delays to her treatment would "not be good" and were unable to continue with the pregnancy. “One night when I couldn’t sleep I sat in Alaya’s nursery," she shared. "I looked at her height chart on the wall, and thought, ‘What if I’m not here to witness this in a few years?
