Nicole Kidman happy for you to meme her “as much as you want” if you go to the cinema
Nicole Kidman has spoken out about a series of adverts she has appeared in praising the magic of cinema. The actress has been the face of a number of AMC Theatres ads since 2021 in which she promotes going to the movies and says lines such as “heartbreak feels good in a place like this” while staring up at a cinema screen. The resulting ads have been parodied by the likes of Saturday Night Live as a result.Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Kidman recently said she even hides “my face when I come on screen” in the adverts. But in a new interview with GQ, Kidman clarified that she stands by the sentiments expressed in those ads and she will do whatever it takes to defend the big-screen experience following the COVID-19 pandemic and last year’s Hollywood strikes.Referring to her famous line she said: “Yeah, yeah, ‘Heartbreak feels good in a place like this’. But I’ll do anything for cinema, so you can meme me as much as you want.”Elsewhere, Kidman recently subtly called out Martin Scorsese for not making enough films that centre on female characters. She was being questioned by about the directors that she would still like to work with in her career, and the Killers Of The Flower Moon filmmaker was one of the names she came up with. However, it appeared to come with a sly comment about his propensity to make predominantly male-centric movies.
