Miss Scotland charged over alleged 'hate crime and disturbance' at Edinburgh rugby event

Current Miss Scotland title holder Lucy Sophia Thomson has been charged by police with an alleged hate crime and disturbance at a sports event in Edinburgh.Police Scotland confirmed the 24-year-old has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal, who will decide if the case goes to court.The beauty queen, from Dunfermline, Fife, was allegedly caught on camera being drunkenly ejected from the Edinburgh City 7s on June 17.The footage, which was shared with the Record, shows a blonde-haired woman being lead off of Peffermill Playing Fields in the capital.The woman can be seen stumbling and physically lifted up by security staff, who struggle with her as they try to bring her back to her feet.Separate allegations were made about a worker being assaulted and racially abused at the event.Ms Thomson is a businesswoman who runs the Scottish Fashion Association, which is an events firm that aims to address “the challenges that the fashion communities face such as racism, sexism and gender inequality”.At the time of the footage emerging, they posted the following statement on Instagram: “SFA are aware of the incident on 17 June 2023.
