Three people were rushed to hospital after a crash at a “dreadfully unsafe” junction. Two cars were involved in a collision at the Euroroute’s turn-off with the B794 to Haugh of Urr just before 6.30pm on Friday.

Three ambulances and two fire engines were sent to the scene, with three people taken to hospital. It’s the fifth accident at the site since late March.

Local councillor Pauline Drysdale raised the matter at Tuesday’s communities committee when the issue of lobbying for improvements to the A75 and A77 was raised.

She said: “Two of these accidents involved children and two involved hospitalisation. “The council roads authority are not responsible but have taken their duty of care extremely seriously. “They have contacted Amey with their concerns and offered their assistance. “This is not a parochial issue as many residents and visitors to Dumfries and Galloway use this stretch of the A75 and to this end I’d like to urge the A75 and A77 lobbying action group to discuss this dreadfully unsafe junction at their next meeting in advance of the proposed transport summit. “I am gravely concerned about the safety of drivers on the A75 and we must all keep the pressure on Amey and Transport Scotland to take mitigating action, especially at this junction, before any fatalities occur.
