Scottish Labour councillor charged over alleged 'grooming offences'

A Scottish Labour councillor has been charged in relation to alleged grooming offences following a police investigation in Fife.

David Graham, a senior politician on Fife Council, has been suspended by the Labour party. Fife Council also confirmed that he has stepped down from his appointments "pending" the outcome of the probe.

The 41-year-old was first elected to office in 2012 for the Buckhaven, Methil and Wemyss villages ward. He sits on the cabinet committee as the spokesperson for health and social care.He is also appointed as a non-executive director on the board of NHS Fife and represents Fife at the council umbrella body Cosla.Both his Twitter and Facebook 'Councillor David Graham' accounts have been deactivated.He is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court at a later date.Fife Council's head of legal and democratic services Lindsay Thomson said: "Cllr Graham was charged with an offence and has been suspended by the Labour party."He has stepped down from his council appointments pending the outcome of the investigation.
