Former Rangers winger Andrei Kanchelskis was told to brush up on his geography skills after thinking he was in Great Britain during an interview at half-time in a match...in DUBLIN.
The 54-year-old is now general director of Kazakhstan outfit Tobol Kastany and they faced Derry City in a Europa Conference League qualifier.
As the League of Ireland outfit’s Brandywell doesn’t meet UEFA requirements, the match was switched to Shamrock Rovers’ Tallaght Stadium in the Republic of Ireland.
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Derry City levelled the tie on the night before losing on spot-kicks. Kanchelskis is a popular figure in Ireland having played for Manchester United and Everton, who both have big followings on the Emerald Isle, in the English Premier League before his four-year spell at Ibrox.
