Abbey Vale boss Allan Clark fears the big occasion may have got to some of his players on Saturday. The Utility Hut South of Scotland League champs faced Cupar Hearts in their first ever Scottish Cup clash.
But, in front of a big crowd at Maryfield Park, it was the Fife side which progressed after a 5-0 victory. Clark said: “We had ITV News there on Thursday night which was a wee bit of fun for the boys but maybe the build-up got too much for some of them. “The only person we could probably give pass marks to is the goalkeeper Taylor Hall. “He pulled off some great saves in the first half and kept the score down.
I went over it and over it in my head on Saturday night to see if we could do anything different but the players didn’t perform. “We did our homework on them, we watched them, we thought we knew about them.
We knew it would be a tough game but we still thought it would be a winnable tie. “We relayed all that to the players but to be honest, and it’s not very often I say it, the players didn’t turn up.
