Onlookers have described "crazy" scenes at the Scottish Grand National after protestors tried to "storm the race track" with police confirming 25 people have been arrested so far.Animal Rising has claimed responsibility for the protest at the beginning of the 3.35pm race on Saturday, where they are alleged to have ditched hoodies and sprinted towards the Ayr race track. But police quickly swooped in and stopped protestors from causing disruption, announcing this evening that 25 people had been arrested across the day with enquiries ongoing.Kyle Fleming described the 'crazy' scenes as he watched the race with his girlfriend.

He told the Record: "We were sitting in the car to watch the race and the next minute, as the gun went off at the start of the race, everyone sprinted towards the race track."It was crazy.

The police were running around trying to catch them all and arrest them. One guy was actually carried off the track by police officers."We stayed for about another hour after that.

By this point there was a big police presence."The stunt comes one week after the group delayed the start of the Grand National at Aintree as protestors gained access to the track but they were also swiftly halted by police. No injuries were reported following the incident and enquiries remain ongoing. In a statement on Twitter earlier today, Animal Rising confirmed 25 of their members had made it onto the track and were planning to attach themselves to jumps and gates in order to cancel the big race. They later added: "Arrests have been made on the tracks at the Scottish Grand National, where supporters of Animal Rising attempted to put a stop to the cruelty that happens to horses there.
