Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has spoken about going incognito at Harvard University following the success of their self-titled debut.Released in 1994, Weezer’s self-titled debut (also known as the ‘Blue Album’) reached number 16 in the Billboard 200 chart and was certified triple platinum within a year.Following its release though, vocalist Rivers Cuomo enrolled at Harvard University to study English Literature before dropping out in 1996 to record second album ‘Pinkerton’ (but he went on to graduate in 2006). Speaking to Conan O’Brien on his Needs A Friend podcast, (via Rolling Stone) Cuomo revealed that he remained anonymous for a bulk of his time at the university.They didn’t know who he was “until the last day of school because most of our fans at that time were like 10 years old, literally,” Cuomo said.

Weezer dropped their critically-acclaimed debut “Blue Album.”To celebrate the anniversary of the iconic record — technically titled “Weezer” — Rivers Cuomo and co. will take off on their 22-concert arena ‘Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour’ where they’ll play the 10-track album in its entirety.“We also plan on playing all of your favorite Weezer songs, rarities and more,” the band shared on Instagram.That includes a stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Sept.

The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer have shared details of a joint tour in the UK and Ireland next summer.Both bands played headline sets at California’s BeachLife festival last year and will come together again for a short tour that kicks off in Birmingham on June 7, 2024.The US acts will then take in shows at London’s The O2, Dublin’s 3Arena, Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, Manchester’s Co-op Live and Cardiff Castle across the rest of the month.Tickets for the UK and Ireland 2024 tour go on general sale this Friday (October 20) at 10am BST here. Weezer have become the latest band to show their support for striking writers in Hollywood amidst the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.The band’s Rivers Cuomo, Brian Bell and Scott Shriner joined striking writers at a picket line outside of Paramount Picture’s studio, where they performed an acoustic set to entertain the strikers.A clip of the set, which was captured by striking Disney writer Brittney Jeng, shows Weezer performing their hit ‘Buddy Holly’ has strikers singalong. Weezer have cancelled their 2022 Broadway residency due to “low ticket sales”.The Los Angeles band announced a five-date series of back-to-back shows at the Broadway Theatre in New York in June. Each concert was set to focus on a different ‘SZNZ’ EP, beginning with ‘Spring’ on September 13.The group were then due to showcase ‘Summer’ the following night (September 14), before airing ‘Autumn’ and ‘Winter’ on September 16 and Saturday 17, respectively.
