The force used by an officer filmed punching a man being detained in the street was 'appropriate', Greater Manchester Police have said.
A video showing some of the incident has been widely shared on social media. The clip appears to show an officer hit the suspect in the head five times as he and a colleague struggle to arrest him.
It was filmed by a passer-by, it is understood. Officers were on patrol when they pulled over a man in BMW driving suspiciously at around 6.08pm on Friday (November 3), the M.E.N.
has now learned. He was stopped at junction of Ayres Road and Chorlton Road in Old Trafford.
