The family of Captain Sir Tom Moore have lost their appeal against an order to knock down an 'unauthorised' spa pool at their home, and have now been told to get rid of the building within three months.

Sir Tom's daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore and her husband, Colin, applied for permission to build an L-shaped building in the grounds of their property in Bedfordshire in 2021, as part of the Captain Tom Foundation.

It was initially given the green light, but the planning authority refused a subsequent application in 2022 for a larger C-shaped building containing a spa pool.

After Central Bedfordshire Council issued an enforcement notice in July requesting the family to demolish the 'unauthorised' building, Captain Sir Tom's daughter launched an appeal, which has now been refused by the Planning Inspectorate.
