There are roughly 12.6 million people across the country receiving State Pension payments of up to £203.85 per week. Basic and New State Pensions from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) help provide financial support for those who have paid at least 10 years' worth of National Insurance contributions.

Despite this, not all people of State Pension age are eligible for the maximum New State Pension - it only covers 3.2 million claimants.

This means more than nine million people are on the Basic State Pension and receive up to £156.20 each week, but, this can be topped up by Additional State Pension payments for men born before 1951 and women born before April 1953.

Meanwhile, cost of living and seasonal payments will be made before the end of the next financial year, the Daily Record reports.
