A teenage boy has made a miracle recovery after a horror train accident left him paralysed and his skull smashed into more than 10 pieces.

Barry Wallace, 13, was out with pals at Prestwick Town Station when a train's metal footstep clipped his leg and knocked him onto the platform in January, 2021.

He was then struck in the head by another metal footstep. The teenager was left paralysed and his skull was shattered so badly medics described it as a jigsaw puzzle.

Three years on from the tragedy his mum Emma Wallace has praised miracle-working medics for saving her son's life.Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click here if you're on mobile, select 'Join Community' and you're in!If you're on a desktop, simply scan the QR code above with your phone and click 'Join Community'.We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
