Co-op Live latest as tension brews between Manchester's biggest music venues

Co-op Live has accused the AO Arena of attempting to block its opening for “competition” reasons at a crunch licensing meeting.

Manchester’s soon-to-open 23,500-seat venue is set to welcome punters from April, and is in the midst of applying for a licence to operate.

Its bid was considered by Manchester City Council on Wednesday (February 21), where bosses took aim at notable objectors ASM Global — the operators of the AO Arena, its main rival.
