dailyrecord.co.ukAn unsettling crime drama filmed in Ayrshire has rocketed to the number one spot on Netflix.Deadwater Fell currently holds the coveted top spot, knocking Sophia Vergara's Griselda from the top of the tree and also sits above hit crime drama Fool Me Once.The mini-series, which stars David Tennant and Cush Jumbo, originally aired on Channel 4 in January 2020 but is now enjoying a second life on the global streaming service.The village of Dunlop was the main shooting location for the four-part show with scenes also filmed at Culzean and Irvine beach.The East Ayrshire village doubled as the fictional community of Kirkdarroch, with the community centre being transformed into the police station for the murder mystery.The thriller itself tells the story of a seemingly happy family who are found murdered following a house fire.Ahead of the show airing, the director of the show, who also hails from Ayrshire, revealed that the village played a key role in aiding production of the four-part drama when it was filmed over a number of weeks in 2019.Lynsey Miller of Kilwinning previously told Ayrshire Live: “We filmed an enormous amount in Dunlop.“That was our main location and we shot a little bit of the village in Kilbarchan but primarily in Dunlop.“We were able to film in the primary school and the church, we used the post office and we were able to turn the community centre into our police station.“Everyone was just so supportive, which you don’t always get in London.
It was really great.“The cast and crew just really loved the place.“For us the best thing about filming in Dunlop was the sense of community that they have there.“Morven Ross, who was our location manager, worked really closely with the locals and the church elder
