The Sir Jim Ratcliffe era at Manchester United is officially up and running. After receiving ratification from both the Premier League and the Football Association last week, United confirmed Ratcliffe had secured a 27.7 per cent stake in the club on Tuesday evening.
As part of the agreement with the Glazers, Ratcliffe, with the backing of his Ineos team, has also secured control of the club's football operations.
That was confirmed on Christmas Eve, a juncture that marked confirmation of his agreement with the Glazers to secure minority ownership. The latter has been placed on gardening leave by Newcastle United after informing them of his desire to become United's inaugural sporting director.
