"Disgusting" footage of a woman being arrested in front of her crying son over an unpaid bus fair has been met with outrage on social media. The video shows the woman in handcuffs as her weeping child stands nearby, with members of the public protesting with officers.

The incident took place on Whitehorse Road, Croydon, London, on Friday, July 21. A spokesperson for the Met said the woman "failed to comply with a revenue inspector and attempted to walk from police before becoming abusive".

In the video, two male officers are seen trying to arrest the woman, whose hands are cuffed in front of her, while a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) tries to comfort her son.The woman shouts: "What the hell?!

What are you doing? What the f*** is going on?" The incident is being filmed by several people on their phones and the young boy can be heard crying.
