Queen Elizabeth's excitement for any family visitors never wavered throughout her entire life and she would regularly welcome her guests to stay with her at the likes of Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House.The Princess of Wales previously revealed one sentimental tradition that the late monarch started as it's a perfect example of the way she "showed her love" for her family.
Speaking on ITV documentary ‘Our Queen at 90’ in 2016 the Princess of Wales said: “[The Queen] always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay, and that just shows her love for her family.” Kate went on to discuss how the Queen was particularly enamoured with Princess Charlotte, eight.
She explained: “The Queen was really thrilled that it was a little girl. “I think as soon as we came back here to Kensington she was one of our first visitors here.
