DVLA scam warning issued to all motorists as cases rise

Drivers across the country have been urged to stay on the lookout for fake texts and emails aiming to steal their personal information.

Motoring experts at LeaseCar.uk warned drivers of a rise in fake messages sent from scammers pretending to be from the DVLA.

These scams attempt to take innocent people's money and identities in order to make some quick cash. In just one year, over 40 million adults across the country were targeted by scammers, a 14 per cent increase from the year before.

Among the eight most common scam messages sent out to potential victims, 41 per cent of all reported scams show someone pretending to be an official government organisation.
