EXCLUSIVE: Talent and literary agent Andrea Nelson Meigs will be leaving UTA at the end of the year. Nelson Meigs, who joined UTA in October 2020 as a Partner following her 14-year run at ICM, is expected to take a hiatus before pursuing opportunities outside agenting, her career for the past 25+ years. “Andrea has had a remarkable career that has spanned decades, representing and helping build the careers of some of the biggest names in entertainment,” UTA Partners and Co-Heads of Talent Chris Hart and Jay Gassner said in a joint statement. “We thank Andrea for her many contributions to UTA.

We are sad to see her go and support her in her transition as she starts her next chapter.” In an internal memo this morning about Nelson Meigs’ departure, a copy of which was obtained by Deadline, Hart and Gassner hailed her as “a trailblazer, breaking ground for many,” adding, “She has trained several assistants, now Presidents of Production, and amplifies important and diverse voices, particularly for women and people of color.” Nelson Meigs, who was a Los Angeles-based lawyer before beginning her career in entertainment, has represented actors, writers, musicians, producers, and directors over the years, making deals on their behalf in film, television, theater, branding, journalism, speaking, animation, and books.

Among the clients she has worked with at UTA as well as ICM are Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Courtney B. Vance, Ellen Burstyn, Quvenzhane Wallis, Aunjanue Ellis and Jill Scott.
