Hatate turned down their first offer with the club remaining confident of agreeing terms with a player who has a deal in Glasgow's east end until 2026 with the Scottish Premiership champions reopening talks with the midfielder - who made his return from injury off the bench in the win over Dundee.
Reports had suggested the Japan cap asked for talks to be placed on hold due to lingering interest in his services during the window but Celtic are back in negotiations.
Following the 3-0 victory over the Dens Park outfit, Rodgers lifted the lid on the behind the scenes conversations between the player and the club - but the boss conceded he would leave the player and club powerbrokers to iron out the deals.
