Scotland's Greatest Escape crowned as island getaway inspired by Iron Age takes title

The 2024 winner of Scotland's Greatest Escape has been crowned, with an island getaway inspired by Iron Age structures taking the coveted prize.The Broch, situated on the Isle of Harris, won the grand finale of the latest series of the BBC Scotland competition on Wednesday evening.

The winner of the show, which sees the best holiday accommodation and escapes in the country go head to head, was decided by a panel of tourist industry experts.

The unique three-storey drystone building with a turf roof is situated on the Borve Lodge Estate on Harris and was designed to look like a broch — a type of Iron Age roundhouse found only in Scotland.

It was created by husband and wife Adam and Cathra Kelliher, who purchased the estate in 2007 and also own the UK’s largest uninhabited island of Taransay.Taking three years to complete, The Broch won the 'Unique and Unusual' episode of Scotland's Greatest Escape in March.
