The tiny village an hour from Greater Manchester 'with beauty to rival the Lakes'

Nestled in the Yorkshire countryside is a charming and sleepy village with scenery that could rival that found in the Lake District.

Except this it’s less likely to be rainy - and attracts far fewer crowds of tourists. It’s already a magnet for ramblers and cyclists looking to test their legs against the mighty moorland mass known as Holme Moss, a notorious hill climb.

The village itself, three miles outside of Holmfirth (just over an hour’s drive from Manchester), is called Lane Village, although locals simply called it Lane.

There are only a handful of residents, including farming families who have been here for generations. The village has a number of holiday cottages, Yorkshire Live reports.
