A woman has told how she fought the Department for Work and Pensions over the results of her Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessment results - and won.
Alexandra Akitici insisted it wasn’t about the money but more about the lies she claimed were being put forward about her life and condition.
The 50-year-old suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), an inherited group of conditions that are characterised by how it affects the joints and skin with symptoms like hypermobility, extreme fatigue, joints that dislocate easily and digestive issues.
One common issue EDS patients face is dizziness and a spike in their heart rate when they stand up which can be extreme enough to cause some to faint spontaneously.
