The police have released a mug-shot of a stern-faced Huw Edwards, the disgraced star who managed to avoid prison today (Monday 16 September). The dishevelled BBC presenter was pictured in a bleary-eyed photo following his arrest last year. This afternoon, he was informed that his career was in ruins. The former News at Ten presenter, aged 63, received a six-month sentence, suspended for two years, from Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring during a hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.

Huw sat forward, hands clasped against his lips, as Mr Goldspring told him: "The impact of child sexual abuse can be severe and lifelong." Mr Goldspring also informed Huw that his "reputation is in tatters," as he began his sentencing remarks, reports the Mirror.

Mr Goldspring stated: "Perhaps it does not need saying that you are of previous good character having enjoyed a very successful career in the media You were highly regarded for your dedication and professionalism, perhaps the most recognised journalist in the UK.

Your reputation is in tatters." The judge described his crimes as "extremely serious offences" but concluded that Huw did not pose a risk or danger to children.
