Manchester United would prefer a permanent sale of Hannibal Mejbri before the transfer deadline. The one-year extension in Hannibal's contract was triggered in December, which means he's entered the final year of his deal and United are looking to offload him this summer.

Burnley are interested in signing Hannibal and are exploring a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation to buy, but United's preference would be to sell him permanently.

Hannibal started against Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League in September and clocked 12.9 kilometres during the game, which was a record for a United player since they began gathering the data in 2019, and more distance than anyone else on the pitch that night.

Hannibal looked to have broken into the first-team fold at one stage but was taken out of the side and his start against Burnley was the only time he made the league XI last season.
