Manchester United have received a significant boost in their race for a Premier League top-four finish following a devastating injury blow to fellow hopefuls Aston Villa.
United left it late to win 2-1 at Villa Park on Sunday as Scott McTominay's header secured three priceless points after Douglas Luiz had cancelled out Rasmus Hojlund's opener.
The result kept United sixth in the Premier League table but cut down Villa's cushion in fifth place to five points, and kept the gap to Tottenham - in fourth place, one of the lucrative Champions League qualification spots - at six points.
While a fifth-placed finish may yet grant access to next season's expanded Champions League should UEFA coefficient points work out kindly for English teams, the battle for fourth is heating up - and a key injury during United's win may yet swing the race against Unai Emery's men.
