A cafe famed for its luxury ice cream has brought back its epic Easter egg desserts and customers can't get enough of them. Grandpa Greene's has always been a popular spot for those heading for a tub of the cool stuff - it was so busy during lockdown that Oldham Council wouldn't let it trade at weekends, saying the large number of visitors is 'potentially creating a serious public health risk.' Things have calmed down since then, but it still has customers travelling miles to sample its goodies, especially at Easter time. Undeterred by the 50-mile round trip from the other side of Manchester, it has Happy Valley feels as you approach the place, which is set in the picturesque village of Diggle, in Saddleworth, Oldham.

There are various seating options - an indoor bit which really needs booking in advance to get a spot, walk-ins under a heated canopy, for which there can still be quite a wait, or picnic tables you can grab along the tow path as soon as you spot a free one.

Its winter igloos can also be booked until April 16. As we excitedly took our seats in the canopy section, all eyes were on the prize.
