Once hailed as ‘Manchester’s water palace’, the Grade II*-listed Victoria Baths is now going to temporarily become a haunted haven as it is transformed into a haunting silent disco for Halloween.
The former swimming baths on Hathersage Road, which first opened in 1906, will host The Silence of the Baths on October 28 as part of a takeover by Manchester-based collective Girls on Film.
The event will feature three DJs - including special guests THT GRL (Not Bad For A Girl) and DJ MX WORLD - for guests to pick their spooky soundtrack from 80s and 90s throwbacks to 00s bangers. The halls of the historic building will be transformed into a ‘wicked wonderland’ of Halloween decorations and surprises, with plenty of photo opportunities along the way.
There will also be a bar serving spirits, chasers, ‘specially conjured’ cocktails, craft beers and mocktails. If that’s not enough, there will also be a fancy dress competition where the most ghoulishly glamorous will take home a selection of prizes.
