Smash Mouth’s Steve Harwell In Hospice Due To Liver Failure, Report

Steve Harwell, known for being the lead vocalist of Smash Mouth, has entered hospice care following liver complications. A manager for Harwell confirmed to TMZ that the singer “has been struggling with alcohol abuse throughout his life — and now, he’s reached the final stage of liver failure.” The outlet notes that Harwell had been hospitalized receiving treatment but is now back home receiving hospice care surrounded by friends and family for the past three days. “Steve’s manager says he likely has only a week or so to live,” the report states.

Harwell is one of the founders of Smash Mouth which was formed in 1994. The rock band is famously known for their hit song “All Star” which was released in 1999.

Other songs that consolidated the band included “Walkin’ on the Sun,” “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” and “I’m a Believer.” Following the news of Harwell’s health condition, fellow singer Bret Michaels took to social media to send him some kind words. “All my thoughts, prayers and well wishes are with my friend Steve Harwell.
