Student given weeks to live after 'unbearable' back pain diagnosed as cancer

A student who first went to A&E after suffering from "unbearable" back pain has been told he has just weeks to live. Dylan Lamb, 20, who studies at the University of Liverpool, thought he'd just pulled a muscle when he started getting pain in April 2022.

But on April 28, 2022, his world fell apart during a trip to A&E with him mum, Kim, after the pain became worse, reports the Liverpool ECHO.

A blood test confirmed his white blood cell count was "through the roof" and he was admitted to hospital for further tests. The student was diagnosed with Precursor T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and three days later started having chemotherapy.

Dylan's girlfriend of three years, Phoebe Cole, 20, said: "He had this lower back pain that could have been multiple different things, he thought he had pulled a muscle.
