Dozens of heartfelt tributes have been paid for a “remarkable” university lecturer after she tragically lost her bowel cancer battle.

Dr Johanna Green was hailed an “exceptional teacher, scholar, and friend” following her death at the The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow on Thursday.The 39-year-old worked as a Senior Lecturer in Information Studies at the University of Glasgow before being diagnosed with stage four cancer in 2018.

After undergoing extensive chemotherapy and surgery, she returned to teaching in 2020. But the disease sadly returned, forcing her to retire in April this year.Johanna was due to celebrate her 40th birthday the day after she passed away.

Ann Gow, Professor of Information Studies, who was a friend and colleague of Dr Green, has penned a heartfelt tribute.She said: “Johanna's presence within the academic community and her impact on the lives of her students and colleagues were nothing short of remarkable.
