Strictly star arrested on suspicion of domestic violence
ok.co.ukFormer Strictly Come Dancing professional Artem Chigvintsev has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in California.The dancer, who won the BBC show in 2010 with his celebrity partner Kara Tointon, was taken to Napa County Jail on Thursday 29 August in the morning, according to online jail records.
He is currently living in America while working on Dancing With the Stars. It is not clear what led to the arrest of Artem. He was booked under California Penal Code Section 273.5(a) PC, which "makes it illegal to injure a spouse, cohabitant or fellow parent in an act of domestic violence.This offense is also referred to as domestic abuse, domestic violence, or corporal injury to a spouse." Representatives for the dancer have been contacted for comment.
Artem joined Strictly 14 years ago when he was partnered with ex-EastEnders actress Kara, a relationship which blossomed into a real-life romance for several years.The 42 year old also made it to the semi-final of the show in 2011 with actress Holly Valance, before he was paired with TV veteran Fern Britton in the 2012 series.
He was last partnered with Coronation Street star Natalie Gumede in 2013, with the pair securing the runner-up spot. Artem later moved to the US version of Strictly, Dancing With The Stars, where in 2017 he was partnered with his future wife, WWE star Nikki Bella, reports the Mirror.
