Ryan Christie says the Scotland squad are in a state of shock after Lyndon Dykes ' freak injury that could rule him out of Euro 2024.The Queens Park Rangers number nine had to be stretchered off during a training session at Lesser Hampden on Friday afternoon, potentially leaving boss Steve Clarke short in the striker department going into the tournament opener against hosts Germany on June 14.
Hearts skipper Lawrence Shankland and Southampton's Che Adams are the only other two recognised strikers in the 28-man squad, which will be trimmed down to 26 ahead of the finals.Dykes injury is another hammer blow for the Scots, who are already missing key trio Aaron Hickey, Nathan Patterson and Lewis Ferguson for the duration of the tournament.
Bournemouth playmaker Christie says the whole squad are devastated for their teammate but reckons the strong togetherness in the group will offer a good support mechanism to the former Livi front man.Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, he said: "All the boys are gutted for Lyndon yesterday as it was a freak thing to happen.
We have had a few injuries leading into the summer, so it's frustrating."Dykesy has been off for a while now after the Championship season.
