Sainsbury's shoppers have been reminded that there's a major change coming to Nectar Cards set to come into effect this week. The Nectar Connect Scheme will be closing down on October 27, meaning shoppers won't be able to collect their points in the same way.At the moment, members can collect their points by shopping at Sainsbury's and its partners, with every £1 spent resulting in one point.
However, with the Nectar Connect scheme, shoppers were able to link their Nectar account to a debit or credit card, earning more points when spending money at various partners including Vodafone, Nandos and Costa Coffee.
More points were also able to be collected in this way - up to 30 points per £1, depending on where you were shopping, Yorkshire Live reports.
The scheme works by using ‘open banking’, so shoppers require an online or app-based bank account or credit card to use it, and must renew permission to link to their bank account every 90 days. But the scheme will be shutting down at 11.59pm on Friday October 27, meaning shoppers won't be able to collect points in this way any more.
