Homeowners are being warned about mysterious Christmas gnomes that are being left in gardens. North Wales Police have issued a warning to anyone who finds one of the bearded ornaments in their garden as there is a dangerous ulterior motive behind them.
Officers at the Flintshire North branch of North Wales Police released an image of the festive decorations on social media alongside a warning that they are being used by criminals as the 'latest weapons' to target homes.
The police force said that burglars are leaving the Christmas gnomes in gardens across the region as a way to check if anyone is home.
If the homeowner doesn't remove it - then the burglars presume the home is empty and it therefore becomes a target.
