Police descend on street after reports of 'naked' man near school

Police descended on a street in Manchester on Thursday afternoon (May 30) amid reports of a 'naked' man near a school. Emergency services attended a concern for welfare call on Queens Road, beside Queens Park in Monsall.

Pictures from the scene showed a number of police vehicles and ambulances in attendance. The man was later 'safely detained' and is receiving 'support and treatment', Greater Manchester Police said.

The sizeable response was thought to be, in part, due to the proximity to the Manchester Communication Academy. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We received reports regarding the concern for the welfare of a man at around 2pm today (Thursday 30 May 2024) on Queens Road near Monsall.
