Mikel Arteta launched a scathing rant at referees and VAR after Newcastle were awarded a controversial winner against Arsenal.The Toon handed the Gunners their first Premier League defeat of the campaign when Anthony Gordon struck from close range on the hour mark at St James Park, with the goal heavily reviewed by VAR on supposedly three counts; to check in the ball was out of play, for an offside and if there had been a foul in the build-up.
It left Eddie Howe's men with an anxious wait but in the end it was all smiles from a Newcastle perspective. Arteta, however, was left fuming beyond words.The Spaniard burst with rage in his post-match press conference, filleting VAR and the PGMOL for what he described as a 'disgrace' and reckons his two decades in the country tell him there's no chance the Premier League can consider itself the best league in the world.
He told Sky Sports: "Praising my players for the way we played, we didn't deserve to lose the match playing in their ground and we lose because of clear and obvious decisions.
It is embarrassing, it is a disgrace, that's what it is, a disgrace."Quizzed on the PGMOL he added: "We've been taking it up (with the PGMOL) for months.
