Premier League chiefs want the “30 second rule” scrapped as refereeing decisions and their outcome on matches continue to dominate the top-flight scene.

VAR talk appears to have picked up more than ever in recent weeks, most notably with Liverpool’s wrongly disallowed goal at Tottenham and the discourse surrounding Anthony Gordon’s winner for Newcastle against Arsenal last weekend, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta calling out PGMOL.

At the start of the campaign, there was the introduction of a ’30 second rule’, where players must stay off the pitch for at least half a minute after receiving treatment, brought in to stop players running down the clock.
