Liam Scales might have wanted 'out' of Celtic in the summer but his turnaround from on the fringes to key man for the Hoops is a remarkable story. That's the view of former Republic of Ireland international and ex-St Johnstone star David McMillan, who has watched in awe at the defender's rise from down the Parkhead pecking order to irreplaceable at the heart of the Celtic defence.
It's something Brendan Rodgers himself alluded to after assessing his squad heading in to the Scottish Premiership campaign, saying he was taken aback by the progress Scales had made at Lennoxtown.
The Irishman has started all of his eight appearances this season including in key Champions League action. The 25-year-old capped off his full Ireland debut during a defeat to Greece, while long-crocked Celtic winger Mikey Johnston made an impact against Gibraltar with a goal this week.
