The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that more than six million disabled people in the UK will receive their one-off £150 disability cost of living payment from next month.

People in receipt of an eligible disability benefit will receive the payment automatically during a two-week window between Tuesday, June 20 and Tuesday, July 4.Eight benefits qualify for the payment including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Adult Disability Payment.

To be eligible for the lump sum, claimants must have received a payment (or later found to be eligible) on April 1, 2023.For those people awaiting confirmation of their entitlement to disability benefits on April 1, or who are waiting to be assessed for eligibility to receive disability benefits, the payment process may take longer and arrive after the scheduled window closes on July 4, but the money will still arrive automatically. This year’s payment follows the £150 disability cost of living payment that was made to more than six million people last September, as part of the UK Government’s commitment to supporting the most vulnerable in society. The Uk Government aims to halve inflation this year and grow the economy to help ease the pressure on household budgets up and down the country.

At a time when costs are rising for everyone, this payment recognises the extra costs disabled people in particular often face, such as care and mobility needs. There will also be further payments of £300 for pensioner households due later this year, meaning some of the most vulnerable households can receive up to £1,350 in direct cost of living payments.Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Mel Stride MP, said:
