Armed police swooped on Liverpool's waterfront following reports of 'teens with a gun'. Merseyside Police received reports, just before 6.30pm on Wednesday, August 29, of a number of youngsters in Chavasse Park in the city centre with a gun.

Armed police were deployed to the area, close to the waterfront, to investigate. Police who swooped on the popular area recovered a BB gun and five teenagers, aged between 13 and 15, were detained by officers near Liverpool Museum on the waterfront, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Pictures sent to title show nine police vehicles and a number of officers on Liverpool waterfront. An eyewitness also reported seeing a number of police cars stopping behind John Lewis at the Liverpool ONE shopping centre.
