More than 200 swanky apartments close to Middlewood Locks in Salford could be built. Proposals worked up by the Canal and Rivers Trust and Bloc could see the car park site off Oldfield Road and Upper Wharf Street.

Branded H20, the development is the latest in an ever-changing city. Half of the proposed apartments will have one bedroom, while the rest will have two.

A 'linear park' on the line of the former Manchester, Bolton and Bury canal is also planned. The development proposes a range of on-site amenities - such as a gym, communal spaces and social areas - which 'will help to foster a vibrant residential community'.
