The Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded to include so many heroes. However, fans will always hold the six original Avengers close to their heart. Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) assembled for the first time in 2012′s The Avengers.

Some of them seemingly bowed out – or been killed off in the universe – with 2019′s Avenger’s Endgame. Over the years, each of the heroes was able to take center stage, whether it be in a standalone movie (or three) or a Disney+ series.

Since Endgame, it appears that the MCU is setting up for a new generation to run the game. That includes a group who has assumed the mantles that were previously held by some of the original stars. Florence Pugh is seemingly stepping up to be a new Black Widow. Hailee Steinfeld could be the next Hawkeye. Anthony Mackie has already become Captain America and is in the process of filming his first solo movie. Dominique Thorne could easily be on the path to become the next Iron Man after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Tatiana Maslany followed in Mark’s footsteps to become She-Hulk. Natalie Portman even briefly assumed the title of The Mighty Thor.

Several of the original six have made it clear that they are likely done with the franchise. The future for others is more unclear.
