The creator of Disney+‘s Becoming Karl Lagerfeld has explained the thinking behind the team’s decision to eschew a biopic when telling the story of a crucial stage in the fashion icon’s life.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Fifteen years after “Inglorious Basterds,” Daniel Brühl is back on the Croisette, this time on the pink carpet at Canneseries, for the world premiere of “Becoming Karl,” a prestige Disney+ mini-series which offered him one of his biggest acting challenges to date. To play Lagerfeld, Brühl not only perfected his French and learned to speak and walk with small heels like the late fashion icon, he also pulled from his own life experience as a perpetual foreigner, being both German and Spanish. Produced by Gaumont (“Lupin”), the six-part series chronicles the rise of Karl Lagerfeld through the world of 1970s Parisian high fashion.

Danny Dyer is to explore modern masculinity in a new Channel 4 documentary series. Titled Danny Dyer: How To Be A Man, the two-part series will see the actor, known for playing hard-man characters, dive into areas including gender stereotypes, male attitudes to mental health and the changing roles of men in society.

Disney+ has revealed a first-look at a new drama about the life of German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The streamer has also confirmed when the six-part series will drop.
