according to BBC News.The fracas erupted during the show’s final song, “I Will Always Love You,” performed by singer and ex-Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton.Audience members at the Palace Theatre refused to stop singing over the the actors, with “mini riots” breaking out in the auditorium.
Two perpetrators were actually removed by security staff and the Greater Manchester Police Department was called to the scene.
Grammy Award-winner Thornton, who plays the lead, Rachel Marron, in the production based on the 1992 film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, used Instagram to apologize to fans after the show.“I respect that you paid your money and I am so grateful to everyone who respects the people on stage who want to give you a beautiful show,” she said. “I just am very very sorry that we couldn’t finish the show.
I fought really hard. It feels awful.”The venue also expressed its regret on Twitter.“We are disappointed that the last 10 minutes of the show needed to be cancelled due to disruptive customers refusing to stay seated and ruining the performance for others.”The theater assured customers that the show will go on.
