Tesco has issued an urgent warning about some of its popular crisp snacks as they may contain an undeclared allergen, warning customers 'do not eat'.The supermarket has recalled three of its crisp varieties from the own-brand Free From section - 150g packets of Onion Rings, Cheese Flavour Balls and Bacon Rashers crisps. On each of these labels, it says that they don't contain any gluten, wheat or milk.
However due to a mistake, they may contain gluten, making them unsuitable for sufferers of this allergen. The Mirror reports that the crisps pose a risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten, as well as those who suffer from Coeliac disease.
Tesco has urged anyone who has bought these products not to eat them, and instead return them to the store for a full refund - and you won't need a receipt to do this.
The recall affects the three varieties of crisps with a use-by date of December 16 2023, and includes all batch codes.A Tesco statement read: "We’re recalling one date code of Tesco Free From 150g packs of Onion Rings, Cheese Flavour Balls and Bacon Rashers, as they may contain gluten which isn’t declared on the packaging."This could be a risk to people who have coeliac disease or an allergy/intolerance to gluten.
