Seven people have been arrested after stop and search powers were introduced following a spate of 'violent incidents' across Brinnington over the weekend.

Stop and search powers were implemented across the area of Stockport after groups of men were reportedly seen wielding weapons amid the incidents on Saturday and Sunday.

Seven people, aged between 16 and 37, have now been arrested on suspicion of offences including aggravated burglary and assault.

Enquiries are currently ongoing to identify any further individuals who may have been involved in the incidents. Greater Manchester Police have not provided any further details about the various incidents, but the Manchester Evening News understands there was a police scene in place on Penshurst Road on Sunday evening following reports of cars being damaged.
