Pressure is mounting on Perth and Kinross Council and Scottish Water after two areas in Perth were blighted by raw sewage-infested floods at the weekend. Both organisations have also been criticised for refusing to confirm attendance at today’s public meeting to discuss repeated flooding issues.Running from 3-4.30pm at Craigie Church Hall, locals will discuss proposed £310,000 measures to reduce the impact of deluges in the Craigie area. The gathering follows the publication of the council’s Craigie Burn Flood Study last month. It is the second gathering to be held in the area following two catastrophic floods in August 2020 and September 2022.But three more localised floods have severely impacted residents in Croft Park since September. The latest, over Saturday night into Sunday morning, saw eight inch-deep raw sewage water and river water submerge a public path between Glenearn Road and South Inch Park.Council and Scottish Water staff worked from 1am until 11am on Sunday to clear trash screens and blockages on Craigie Burn, including Queens Avenue. The teams also cleared the prison hake, monitored the manholes behind Cherrybank and cleared additional debris from the hakes, in case of any more rainstorms.Janice Haig lives next to the path in Croft Park and also founded Perth Community Flood Aid support group in the aftermath of the September floods. She explained: “We knew the rain was going to be heavy.“We were even sleeping in our clothes so we could get up and out if we had to go.“We were up during the night to watch the level of flooding.

We leave the pumps in the garden in case it floods.“Then it started to flood and there was raw sewage water in my garden.“Water then filled the path and it was a mix of raw sewage water
