South of Scotland League champs Abbey Vale are shaping up well for the new season. They followed up a narrow 2-1 friendly loss to Annan Athletic with a thumping 11-0 win over Hole I’ The Wa on Thursday night.

There was no let-up in the second half with Lewis McKenna scoring either side of a goal from Liam Patterson. Craig Kerr made it nine before Hughes bagged a brace to complete his own hat-trick.
Vale boss Allan Clark said: “We played a very strong Annan team and gave a good account of ourselves, so we were happy with that. “We were quite comfy against Hole I’ The Wa.
